High speed internet access has become as essential as water and electricity in the EU, claims Tim Johnson, chief analyst at broadband research specialists, Point Topic .
He said:
“Broadband is going to be on a par with water and electricity in terms of how much people need it and how much difference it makes to their lives.

BT is planning to simplify its product range by adding some and taking some away. Smooth move, says Broadbandwatcher.
By March 2014, BT plans to have shrunk its FTTP product range from 10 to 5. Life online is dangerous these days. Computer security firm, McAfee, has reported that in Q2 various types of malware have been popping up just like mushrooms after the rain.

Good news comes from Virgin Media as it officially hit one of its most anticipated targets – the one million TiVO customers milestone.
This means the company installed its digital television services in more than 250,000 homes during the second quarter of 2012.
Meanwhile, 1.3m homes are currently enjoying superfast broadband of 30Mbps and above. During Q2 Virgin Media added 459,800 new fibre broadband customers to its cable network.

O2 Wholesale has just penned papers with both Timico, which is a successful business broadband supplier, as well as QiComm, a telecommunications provider.

According to the European Union, Google may have been abusing its high if not completely dominant position and has until early July to rethink its business strategy.
The EU demanded that the firm published a document which would reveal ways the search giant would alter its current policies.

According to recent reports, TalkTalk took a difficult decision which can potentially cost 390 employees their jobs in favour to set up another 450 vacancies, elsewhere.
