Today marks the day when a consultation into how adult website censorship in the UK should be handled has been launched.
It is feared that children are exposed to inappropriate material on the web on a regular basis and with an increasing rate via Google searches, pop ups or malicious websites.
The UK Government’s Department for Education, which launched the process, has proposed three choices: automatic block, an active choice (opt-in for filtering during sign up) and a so-called active choice plus (default filtering with an ability to opt out at…

Some of you might remember that Everything Everywhere (T-Mobile and Orange) has been very keen on 4G services, seeing as it reported on the progress of its fourth gen mobile broadband trial in a small Cumbrian community of Threlkeld.
Only a fraction (50) of households and businesses took part in the LTE (Long Term Evolution) technology based trial which reported back reaching speeds of 20Mbps. It is worth saying that EE is yet to report whether or not that figure is a maximum speed or an average.

BT (BT Openreach to be exact) has just announced its latest batch of fibre exchange upgrades. As a quick reminder, it intends to update 98 locations in order for them to be FTTC and/or FTTP capable.
FTTC (fibre-to-the-cabinet) is often referred to as “hybrid fibre”, as it delivers fibre to the street cabinet and only then to the household or business. It can provide speeds of up to 80Mbps.
As a contrast, “true fibre” or FTTP (fibre-to-the-premises) delivers fibre directly to the doorstep and thus is capable of suppling ultrafast speeds…

According to internet and tech analyst, Point Topic, satellite broadband connections are on the rise thanks to vast improvements in the sector.
This is thanks to the coming of newer, faster and more reliable Ka-Band satellite services which allow satellite ISPs to provide much more attractive products to consumers worldwide.
PointTopic commented on the findings:
”The launch of the Ka band satellites in America and Europe is also making an impact.
The step change in bandwidths and costs have moved the space-based technology closer to the market average for consumers and they are…

According to recent reports, Australia takes 4G mobile broadband very seriously. It also does not tolerate Apple saying that its newest version of the infamous iPad was 4G-enabled when it wasn’t compatible with any 4G network in the country.
Thus the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission decided to fine the firm with 2.24m Australian Dollars for what it saw as misleading claims in Apple’s advertisements.
It has also been suggested that the tech giant was urged to change its advertising strategy immediately, however it declined not to do so, a gesture…

SimplifyDigital has just published a guide explaining some of the dangers that are lurking in the online world that could leave your data being exposed to third parties without you even knowing it.
In parallel, Google has just published a report which underlined that the firm’s security software was tracking down as many as 9,500 malware websites daily.
Of these, some websites were actually those who got attacked by virtual wrong-doers and started carrying the malicious scripts as a result. Others were far from innocent as these…

Perhaps the slightly more inevitable has just been reported as happening – the whole smartphone-owning population has a few more health concerns to consider in this modern day and age.
Because mobile broadband and other technologies give us the ability to have work done on our smarties as well as remotely from home, it has been established that we started spending an extra two hours and 18 minutes every single day for work purposes in our own time. And that’s on average.
This led the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP), who…
