Some broadband news followers might recall that the world is slowly getting ready for the invasion of IPv6 – the planned day for everyone to slowly start exiting IPv4 for a revamped IPv6 is the 6th of June, this summer.

Business broadband provider, Fluidata, has also confirmed that it would be hopping on the IPv6 bandwagon by automatically enabling the newer version of internet addresses for all new subscribers even before the world IPv6 day.

To translate this slightly tech topic – end-users will not need to lift a finger and there will be no disruption to current IPv4 services.

The Managing Director of the award winning business ISP, Piers Daniell, was quoted as saying:

“The World IPV6 launch is an important initiative to drive adoption and understanding of IPV6 in the UK.

“IPv4 depletion is now a reality, and many people don’t realise that viewing websites over IPv4 and IPv6 is problematic.

He also said that firms should merge their IPv4 / IPv6 variants of web pages in order to give users see the content, no matter what version they have enabled.

“Getting behind this initiative should speed up the development of new services, which would only be possible with IPv6.”

As a quick reminder, AAISP is on the IPv6 case as well.
