Network operator Three (3) Mobile is planning to provide free mobile broadband access for a year to the rural Scottish villages of Durness, Melvich and the port town of Invergordon.
Rural Broadband Working Group is Three’s (3) project that is aiming to bring the benefits of 3G broadband to areas that are not served by the fixed-line infrastructure.
Three (3) Mobile has chosen to give dongles and Mi-Fi wireless routers to a hotel, a shop, two cafes, a community hall, six families and local businesses.

You might have noticed a roaming charges slashing trend. The latest mobile operator to join in and offer more budget friendly roaming in the EU is Three (3).
The Euro Internet Pass option is available to the operator’s Pay Monthly customers and comes at £5 per day. This, according to Three, will help prevent that “bill-shocked” state of mind.

According to Three (3), our mobile broadband data consumption has reached an all time high during New Year’s Eve just over a week ago when compared to last year. The figures were 80TB (TeraBytes) and 14TB respectively.
According to the mobile provider’s calculator this signalled a whopping 600 per cent increase. And all it took was a single year.

According to Three (3), it was serving roughly 40 per cent of “all of the UK’s mobile data traffic combined”, despite the fact that it was considered to be smallest mobile operator from UK’s big five (others include: Vodafone, O2, T-Mobile and Orange).
According to the company, roughly 137Tb (terabytes) of files and data passed backwards and forwards via Three’s network, with Facebook being the biggest offender.

The UK Secretary of State for the Department of Culture, Media and Sport, Jeremy Hunt was forced to warn mobile phone operators “to put aside competitive differences and work together” after claims were made concerning the auction of 4G mobile broadband spectrum.

Exciting news coming from Three (3) as the mobile operator and broadband provider has joined forces with the Countryside Alliance as well as the Race Online 2012 in order to grant free mobile broadband services (as well as dongles) for a whole year to 11 rural communities.
