While consumers may be excited about 4G services coming to the UK (Ofcom gave Everything Everywhere the go-ahead to make use of its 1,800MHz spectrum to rollout the next-gen mobile broadband), this happiness might be short-lived.
In order to make use of the 4G portable broadband, customers need to have compatible devices – tablets or smartphones – to be able to enjoy speedy internet.
Informa’s Telecoms and Media head analyst, Thomas Wehmeier, was quoted by PCPro.co.uk as stating:
“There are various frequencies being used around the world and a phone that works…

According to recent reports, Australia takes 4G mobile broadband very seriously. It also does not tolerate Apple saying that its newest version of the infamous iPad was 4G-enabled when it wasn’t compatible with any 4G network in the country.
Thus the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission decided to fine the firm with 2.24m Australian Dollars for what it saw as misleading claims in Apple’s advertisements.
It has also been suggested that the tech giant was urged to change its advertising strategy immediately, however it declined not to do so, a gesture…

If you noticed that it is a tad more difficult to go online yesterday, that’s probably because your neighbour was downloading the fresh and new iOS5 software upgrade. As did your neighbour’s neighbour and probably his neighbour too. You get it – the list goes on.
This is because Apple released a new update for its oh-so desired iPhone and iPad handsets which consequently resulted in an influx of traffic as keen users were racing to beat the global crowd and be the first ones to download the addition.

The tech town was getting ready for this and now it happened, Steve Jobs resigned as Apple’s CEO handing his crown to Tim Cook, turning him from COO to chairman.

The war between technology giants Apple and Samsung has just turned a little more fierce.
Apple, producer of currently the world’s most popular smartphone, is trying to prevent Samsung from selling all the Galaxy-branded tablets in Europe. Since the Netherlands is the entry level distribution point for the region, Apple has filed the suit in a Dutch court.
But the Californian based company is not stopping by ‘just’ a ban; it also demands that all stock will be recalled from buyers and resellers at cost of Samsung.
A statement published by Apple…

Amazon might launch its much anticipated tablet computer by the end of the year.
In May, Chief Executive, Jeff Bezos said:
“We will always be very mindful that we will want a dedicated reading device,’ he said.
“In terms of any other product introductions, I shouldn’t answer”.
The move seems to be another bid to compete with Apple’s iPad.
With the release of the second version on the iPad, more than 15m had been sold. This is more than all other tablets combined.
