TalkTalk rewards digital heroes

Do you know someone who you can openly call a digital hero? If you do, make sure to nominate that person for the 2012 Digital Heroes Award, a grant scheme organised by TalkTalk in association with Citizens Online, The Mirror as well as Go ON UK.

To say thank you to the “digital heroes” who help others using digital technology, the company decided to reward the winner with a sum of as much as £5,000.

Dido Harding, CEO of TalkTalk, was quoted as saying:

“This year’s awards are bigger and better than ever. We have a new category for children and young people, aged 18 years and under, with the winner receiving £4,000 for their chosen charity and an Apple MacBook Air computer, and we have launched a fun competition where children aged 12 years and under can send in their drawings of what a Digital Hero might look like.”

Parents – get your kids crayons and get them working!

Meanwhile, last year’s winner came up with a technology which allowed those in prison record and send messages to their wives and children. The service was then extended to soldiers who were serving abroad. Very clever.

If you happen to know a digital hero, be sure to nominate him or her by the 15th of September, 2012.
