According to Three (3), our mobile broadband data consumption has reached an all time high during New Year’s Eve just over a week ago when compared to last year. The figures were 80TB (TeraBytes) and 14TB respectively.
According to the mobile provider’s calculator this signalled a whopping 600 per cent increase. And all it took was a single year.
Nigel Field, Three’s (3) Director of Devices, was quoted as commenting:
“From Twitpics of fireworks, to Facebook wall posts wishing people all the best, my nearest and dearest certainly took advantage of being linked in to the wider world through their 3G connections.”
According to the stats, Facebook once again has seen its traffic going up by a fifth with people wishing each other a happy new year and of course sharing pictures and tweets via Twitter.
Some of you might remember that Three (3) has come back to its popular mobile broadband product which included all-you-can-eat data while continuing getting ready for Ofcom’s 4G spectrum auction.
4G (both LTE and HSPA based) is expected to deliver speeds far beyond the current average of 4-5Mbps.
Broadbandwatcher is ready to be shocked and can’t wait for next year’s data consumption figure.
